The 28th annual Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) All-Star Sports Week took place earlier this month — and a handful of local standouts represented their schools and North teams well in Montgomery.
See a breakdown below.
Cross Country
— Ardmore’s Addison Tiemann finished 11th overall in the girls division with a time of 21:16.43. The North beat the South (17-38).
Golf
— Athens Bible’s AJ Bradford garnered MVP honors with Westbrook Christian’s Cove McHugh after the duo teamed up to take down Bayside Academy’s Luke Ferguson and St. Paul’s Walter Hensley 11-7 in their head-to-head dual match.
Bradford and the North defeated the South 39-33.
Soccer
— Tanner’s Randy Cortes netted a goal and claimed an assist to lead the North team to a 4-1 win over the South. Tanner’s Matt Smith served as the head coach of the North.
Softball
— Athens’ Amaya Green, Athens Bible’s Kaylee Carter and West Limestone’s Lilly Bethune, all of whom earned first-team All-State accolades last season, competed in a doubleheader that saw the South win the opener 3-0 and the teams play to an 11-all tie in the nightcap.
Green went 3-for-4 at the plate across both games with two runs scored. Carter, meanwhile, recorded a hit and notched a run in Game 2.
