Limestone County sheriff’s deputies have been helping the Office of Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services serve search warrants at an Athens business today.

Deputy Stephen Young said the Sheriff’s Office was assisting the OIG serve warrants at Mays Computers and Outdoors at 1802 U.S. 72 East, Suite B, near Lindsay Lane, this afternoon. He declined to release the reason for the warrants and referred questions to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Illinois.

Sharon Paul, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Springfield, said the office could neither confirm nor deny the serving of search warrants at the business at this time.

Health and Human Services is the largest grant-making organization in the federal government. The OIG combats fraud, waste and abuse of HHS programs, including Medicare, Medicaid, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes of Health, and the Food and Drug Administration.
