Parents and students at Limestone County Schools won’t have to learn how to navigate a new website in the coming school year. School board members agreed Thursday to keep working with SchoolinSites website provider.

SchoolinSites is the web-hosting program the school system and each school uses for its website. The annual cost of $21,080 is built into the yearly budget. According to meeting documents, the amount covers every school, including the four new schools — Sugar Creek, Creekside Primary, Tanner Elementary and Elkmont Elementary.

In other business, board members heard from Superintendent Dr. Tom Sisk, who said the construction camp at Limestone County Career Technical Center brought 25 to 30 students who want to learn programs such as drafting, carpentry, electrical, masonry and plumbing over the summer.

Career Technical Center Director Vince Green said the students went to the Parade of Homes, where they were able to point out different parts of the houses pertaining to projects they worked on at the camp.

Board members also learned Thursday the Combating Hunger on Wheels bus rolled out of June on a good note, with the district getting reimbursed for nearly 14,000 meals last month. The bus offers free breakfast and lunch to students during the summer months.

“We won’t have as many in July because there aren’t as many camps in operation as we draw down to get ready to wind up for school in August,” Sisk said, adding the large number came from both county and city students.

In other updates, Sisk told board members construction on Sugar Creek Elementary School is ongoing, though it won’t be finished until nearly the school start date in August.
