Calhoun accepting applications for Warhawk program

Calhoun Community College’s Warhawk Student Ambassador program is accepting applications for scholarship awards for the 2017-18 academic year.
The program provides opportunities for students who are enthusiastic about serving and representing Calhoun Community College at various college and community service events. The ambassadors provide campus tours to current and prospective students, serve as information agents and assist with numerous student activities on both campuses.

“The program is extremely competitive,” said Sherika Attipoe, Warhawk sponsor. “Each year, we receive a large number of applications from students with very impressive backgrounds, which makes the selection process very difficult.”
Student selection is based on demonstrated leadership, commitment to serve and academic records. To be eligible, students must meet the following qualifications:
• Complete the online application;
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher;
• Must be enrolled at Calhoun full-time (12 semester hours);
• Must be a first-time freshmen or student returning for a second year at Calhoun;

• Must attend tryouts;
• Demonstrate leadership skills; and
• Positive personality.
Upon acceptance into the program, students receive a partial scholarship, which is equivalent to two three-semester hour classes during the fall and spring semester.
