UPDATE: Shooting reported in Athens

A 21-year-old man reported being shot in the left shoulder at a home on Hine Street near Sommerest Drive in Athens about 11:30 a.m. Friday, according to emergency radio dispatches.

The victim told authorities he was able to drive to the 300 block of Sanderfer Road and call for help. He told Athens authorities he was shot at the home, located south of U.S. 72, as were the tires of his vehicle.

The victim was transported to Athens-Limestone Hospital for treatment.

Athens police are investigating.
