Seay’s youngest son, 18-year-old Demarius Seay, pleaded guilty last month to attempted murder and received a life term.

Another of Yolanda Seay’s sons, Martez Seay, is charged with ordering Hawkins’ killing from the Jefferson County Jail, where he was being held on a capital murder charge in the May 2009 shooting death of Lonnie Vaughn during a robbery. Hawkins also was charged with capital murder in the killing of the 44-year-old Vestavia Hills man.
