Patricia Sims

The funeral for Patricia M. Sims, 67, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at McConnell Funeral Home with Steve Dorning officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery.

Visitation is from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.

She died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at home.

Mrs. Sims was born Jan. 16, 1943, in Decatur to Roy C. Messer and Mary Irene Messer. She enjoyed sewing and baking, fishing, bowling, and dancing with her husband. She worked for 33 years in civil service, and traveled worldwide.

Mrs. Sims was a member of Friendship Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Hoyt Sims Jr. of Athens; sons, Steve Middlebrook of Madison and Eddie Middlebrook of Athens; stepdaughters, Lisa Godsey of North Carolina and Lana Rosier of Georgia; brother, David Messer of Birmingham; grandchildren, Molley and Katie Middlebrook of Huntsville; and step-grandchildren, Laura, Wesley, Drew and Kyle Kirschner.

Pallbearers will be Buddy Nixon, Clint Taylor, Larry Chandler, Allan Taylor, Steve Middlebrook and Eddie Middlebrook.

Honorary pallbearers are Ronnie Carr and J.T. Sims.
