In an effort to conceal the victim’s identity, The News Courier will not publish the names of the suspects. The 46-year-old male and 35-year-old female both have Elkmont addresses.

Limestone County Sheriff’s Investigator Lt. Johnny Morrell said the male talked the teen’s mother, whom he had a relationship with, into taking the pornographic photos because he “liked younger women.” He said the man also asked the mother to let the teen perform sexual acts with him, but Morrell said it is not clear if that occurred. The male suspect has not been charged with having sex with the teen.

Sheriff Mike Blakely said his department became involved after the Department of Human Resources filed a report. The teen victim had been cutting herself and was taken to a hospital for observation.

The girl told a mental health counselor about the abuse, and the counselor informed DHR.

Investigators interviewed the victim, which led to a search warrant being served at the homes of the male and female suspects. At the male’s home, photos of the victim and other evidence were found.

Both suspects were arrested on charges Friday.

The male is charged with possession of child pornography, causing the delinquency of a minor and facilitating the solicitation of unlawful sexual conduct with a child. He was released Sunday on a $56,000 bond.

The female is charged with facilitating unlawful sexual conduct with a child, production of pornography with minors, dissemination of child pornography, possession of child pornography and causing the delinquency of a minor.

Her bail is set at $161,000. She remained in jail as of Monday morning.
