New programs: “We will be adding a new computer science class to our A+ College Ready program. We are looking forward to our kids taking advantage of that. We also want more student engagement in the classroom. We are going through a paradigm shift, where we are shifting the focus from the teacher to the student.

What makes East Limestone special: “Not only are we the largest high school in the county, we are the most diverse. That really helps our students when they get into the real world. It is something that helps them assimilate into society. We are also one of only two A+ schools of excellence in the county.”

Primary objectives for 2018-2019: “In high school you miss out sometimes on parent interaction and communication. You have a lot of it when students are younger, but then it seems to wane off in the high school years. But research has shown those years are important and we need parents right there helping them along with the process. When you have that connection and communication with parents it makes your job a lot easier. We would also like to achieve an “A” on the state report card.”

What is the principal looking forward to: “As always, just interacting with the students. That is the most important part. You know when they walk in that first day of school, our babies are back. That’s the way you got to think of them. We see them as our children, and once they walk through the door they’re ours.”
