Athens Bible couldn’t quite get over the hump on Saturday, falling to South Lamar 3-1 and 3-2 in the second round of the Class 1A playoffs to end its season at 16-9.

Luke Murrell pitched well for the Trojans in the opener, scattering three hits and seven strikeouts in six innings. Unfortunately for Athens Bible, however, Murrell also secured its lone hit — and South Lamar ultimately took advantage with two runs in the seventh inning to come away with the victory.

Run-scoring hits by Ryan Faust and Gavin Butler in Game 2 put Athens Bible ahead 2-0 in the fourth inning, but South Lamar scored the final three runs of the clash to end the season for the Trojans.
