Athens man charged in Monday night shooting

A man accused of shooting into the vehicle his ex-girlfriend was driving Monday has been arrested and charged, records show.

Michael Anthony Rainey Jr., 21, of Athens was arrested Wednesday afternoon on a warrant charging him with shooting into an occupied vehicle, Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said.

The shooting occurred at the corner of Hine Street and U.S. 72, records show.

No one was injured, but there were several holes in the vehicle, Johnson said.

Rainey was booked at Athens Police Department and transferred to the Limestone County Jail, where he was released on bond.
