UPDATE: Mowing accident reported in Athens

A 91-year-old Athens man was injured today after his riding lawn mower flipped and landed on top of him, according to emergency dispatch reports.
People at the scene were able to remove the mower from the man, who was conscious and breathing but complaining of pain. Emergency personnel were at the scene, and the man was transported to Athens-Limestone Hospital.

The accident, which occurred near Washington and Suffield streets, was reported to authorities at 2:20 p.m.
In a separate mowing accident Thursday afternoon, Larry Garner fatally drown after his mower went through a fence and into the Tennessee River at his home on the river’s edge.
An autopsy has been ordered to determine his cause of death.
