Voter turnout was a mere 15.68 percent of 3,377,902 registered voters statewide, though not all precincts were counted at press time.
Moore was technically the incumbent going into the race because he won the seat in a special election in May. The special primary was called after former state Rep. Micky Hammon, R-Decatur, pleaded guilty to a mail fraud scheme that led to his automatic ouster from the Legislature.
Moore will now face Democrat Juanita Allen Healy in the Nov. 6 general election.
Moore could not be reached for comment immediately after the election.
