Astrophysicist Tyson to appear in Huntsville

Tickets went on sale Friday for an appearance by astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, who will appear at the Von Braun Center in February.
Tyson will speak in the Mark C. Smith Concert Hall at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 8. Tickets range from $49.50 to $87.50. A limited number of VIP tickets are available for $200. Tickets can be purchased at ticketmaster.com.
Tyson, a bestselling author and host of “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey,” has “guided the Ship of the Imagination to transport viewers to the nucleus of an atom and the farthest reaches of the universe as he explores humanity’s quest for understanding,” the release said.
President George W. Bush appointed Tyson in 2001 and 2004 to serve on commissions studying the future of the U.S. aerospace industry and the implementation of the U.S. space exploration policy, respectively. Tyson is also the recipient of 18 honorary doctorates and the NASA Distinguished Public Service Medal, the highest award given by NASA to non-government citizens.
