Athens man arrested after crack found at residence

An Athens man was arrested this week on numerous charges after a search warrant yielded more than 10 grams of crack cocaine.

A press release from the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office said a search warrant was conducted Thursday at 1410 12th St. in Athens. Investigators searched the pants pocket of resident 49-year-old Roosevelt Houston Jr., and found crack cocaine.

The release said crack was also discovered on the kitchen floor and in a drawer in the kitchen. Investigators also found digital scales and other pieces of drug paraphernalia.

Also found at the residence was a .22-caliber Phoenix Arms pistol, 3 grams of marijuana and $881.

The total weight of the crack cocaine was 10.3 grams, the release said.

Houston was subsequently arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, felony drug paraphernalia and second-degree possession of marijuana.

He was later released on a $13,500 bond.
