Academy Day is for high school students interested in attending a U.S. service academy. Students and parents will have the opportunity to meet with U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.
About Academy Day
Applicants to all service academies, except the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, must obtain a nomination from an official nominating source. This includes Members of the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, president, vice president and secretaries of the Navy, Air Force and Army. A member of Congress can nominate students to attend an academy if the students meet eligibility requirements and live in the representative’s congressional district.
Brooks established a nominating board to review applications, interview prospective candidates and make the final selection of fifth district nominees to be submitted to the academies. Nominations are determined using the competitive method with all nominees submitted unranked to the academies, allowing equal opportunity for each candidate nominated from the district.
All nomination applications must be submitted to Congressman Brooks’ office by Friday, Nov. 3. For more information about the nomination process, please visit brooks.house.gov/serving-you/service-academy-nominations.
