Jamie Dailey, left, and Darrin Vincent have won multiple awards since getting together in 2007. Dailey was previously a member of Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, while Vincent was a member of Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder.

The newest members of the Grand Ole Opry, Dailey & Vincent, will headline the annual Tennessee Valley Old Time Fiddlers Convention, according to a press release.

The duo and their band will perform at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at the convention, held on the campus of Athens State University. They are touring behind their latest release, “Patriots & Poets.”

Comprised of Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent, the duo blends traditional country, gospel and bluegrass. A review of their new album in Bluegrass Today referred to the duo as “easily some of the very best entertainers in bluegrass music.”

“They continue to expand their horizons on ‘Patriots & Poets,’ keeping one foot planted in their bluegrass roots but reaching out to embrace other forms of acoustic-based music,” the review said.

Those who have the RFD-TV channel may recognize Dailey & Vincent from their series, which airs Saturday nights. Special guests on the show have included Vince Gill, the Oak Ridge Boys, Dan Tyminski, Lee Greenwood and Tanya Tucker.

They also have a radio show on radio station WSM, which broadcasts at 6 p.m. on the last Friday of each month.

The duo’s Emmy-nominated “ALIVE!” special was released to all 634 Cracker Barrel locations. The original broadcast on PBS reached 64 percent of households in America, the release said.

About the duo

Jamie Dailey is a four-time International Bluegrass Music Association Vocalist of the Year award winner. He grew up performing with family and regional groups and later became the lead vocalist and guitarist for Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver for more than 10 years. Dailey’s voice can also be found on several recordings by Dolly Parton, Ricky Skaggs and Russell Moore.

Darrin Vincent has accumulated five Grammy awards and has been voted Bluegrass Bass Player of the Year four years in a row (2009-20012). For more than 10 years, he was a member of Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder. He credits with dozens of artists, including his sister Rhonda Vincent, Dolly Parton, Nora Jones, Emmylou Harris, Earl Scruggs, Bruce Hornsby, Vince Gill and John Hartford.

As a duo, Daily & Vincent have won 35 International Bluegrass Music awards, four Dove awards and three Grammy nominations.

“Stand back or face the force of nature that is this astounding ensemble,” wrote respected critic Robert K. Oermann for Music Row Magazine. “Take it from me, there’s a reason they’ve earned three Grammy nominations, won four Dove Awards, claimed an astounding 35 IBMA honors (including three as Entertainers of the Year) and landed their own show on RFD.”

A busy schedule

Dailey & Vincent perform about about 120 shows per year. The release said the duo’s last three performances at the Ryman auditorium in Nashville were sold out.

This week, the duo will appear at the fifth annual LandFest in Hiawassee, Georgia, which is their own creation. The previous four festivals were held in Denton, North Carolina.

This year’s lineup features the Earls of Leicester, The Del McCoury Band, Sierra Hull, Primitive Quartet and former members of Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver.

After performing in Athens, Dailey & Vincent are scheduled to perform in November at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
