BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say the body of a missing Pickens County woman has been found in a Jefferson County home.
Media outlets report that the body of 39-year-old Christy Lynn Cook was found Wednesday. The homeowner had been gone on a 10-day business trip, and found the decomposing body when he returned.
The homeowner said he didn’t know Cook.
Cook was last seen on March 7 and was reported missing to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office last week. Her boyfriend is in custody and remains jailed without bond on suspicion of murder, but his name is being withheld pending formal charges.
Jefferson County Chief Deputy Randy Christian says the case is under investigation.
