First-responders seeking the whereabouts of a missing man Monday weren’t likely to find him because he was in the Limestone County Jail, an official said.
Limestone County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman Stephen Young said the department received a call at about 9 p.m. reporting a missing man last seen in the Arrowhead Landing area. The caller stated the last time Randy Keith Holt, 51, of Hartselle, had been seen was around noon on Monday.
Holt, however, had been arrested earlier that day. It wasn’t until deputies arrived on the scene Monday night and ran the full name of the man reported missing that they determined Holt’s whereabouts.
Earlier arrest
Young said the Sheriff’s Office received a call shortly after 1:30 p.m. Monday about a man by the side of the road in the Arrowhead Landing area with his pant’s down. When a deputy arrived, he observed Holt sitting on a rock with his pants half-way down. Young said Holt told the deputy he was waiting on a friend who was hunting.
“The deputy observed that Holt appeared intoxicated as he had difficulty standing and speaking clearly,” Young said.
The deputy then arrested Holt on charges of public intoxication. He remained in jail Tuesday morning on $500 bond.
