A man and woman are dead following a murder-suicide Friday at a home in eastern Limestone County, an official said.

Deputy Stephen Young, public information officer for the Sheriff’s Department, said he could not name the two shooting victims because relatives were still being notified.

According to emergency radio traffic, Limestone County sheriff’s officials were called about 10 a.m. today to a home in the 18500 block of East Limestone Road, just north of Ed Ray Road in eastern Limestone County.

A family member apparently called 911 after finding another family member on the floor of the home. The caller told the dispatcher a male subject had a gun and was still on the scene.

Ambulance personnel could not immediately enter the home because deputies and investigators who responded to the call said the offender was still armed and present.

A few minutes later, scanner traffic indicated two people were dead.
