Limestone school board approves principal contracts, personnel

Five Limestone County principals were recently offered new contracts and salaries. School board members approved these contracts and other personnel items at their June 21 meeting. Here is a synopsis:

• Approved contracts for Keith Hairrell, probationary principal at Clements High School at a salary of $87,000; Casey Lewis, principal at Johnson Elementary School — $84,481; Stan Davis at Elkmont High School — $95,962; Billy Owens at Tanner High School — $96,524; Mickey Glass at the Limestone County Career Technical Center — $92,863. Salaries are based on years of experience.
Other action
In other action, board members agreed to create two new positions for the 2012-13 school year; two teachers at Creekside Elementary School and one Spanish teacher at East Limestone High School.
• Agreed to hire the following new personnel for the 2012-13 school year: Kirstie Corum, science teacher at Ardmore High School; Taylor Crumbley, collaborative teacher at Ardmore; Alicia Hood, teacher at Blue Springs Elementary School; Clarissa Glanton, teacher at Cedar Hill Elementary School; Dawn Yarbrough, special education instructional assistant at Clements; Kaitlin Haley, teacher at Creekside; Cherie Kim, teacher at Creekside; Dana Rickard, teacher at Creekside; Christina Roberts, special education inclusion assistant at East; Amy Troutman, language arts teacher at East; Kelli Champion, teacher at Johnson; Rhonda Nicholson, ACCESS facilitator at Tanner; William McDaniel, social science teacher at West Limestone High School; Justin Smith, science teacher at West; Tara Hilliard, family and consumer science teacher at East; and Kelley Routh, collaborative teacher at Elkmont.
• Agreed to transfer the following for the 2012-13 school year: Sandra Malone to a CNP worker/assistant at Blue Springs; Kristy Hogan to teacher at Cedar Hill; Troy Rogers to social science teacher at Clements; Shane Carpenter to mathematics/science teacher at Clements; Paula Wales to CNP manager at Creekside, effective July 2; Debbie Poland to full-time guidance counselor at East Limestone, effective July 2; Alicia Bates to elementary teacher at Elkmont; Sandra Blankenship to reading coach at West; Brenda Greene to special education inclusion assistant at West; Christy Johnson to special education inclusion assistant at West; Haney Wallace to elementary teacher at West Limestone.
• Accepted the resignation of Denise McManus as teacher at Creekside, effective June 13.

• Granted supplemental pay retroactive to the 2012 season to Garth Garris, baseball assistant coach at Elkmont (to be paid by the school)

• Granted extended leaves of absence to Lindsey Walton, teacher at Creekside, for the 2012-13 school year; and Matthew Poff, maintenance worker at bus garage, for the first semester of the 2012-13 school year.
• Approved as substitutes Brandi Dorning as school nurse at East for the 2012-13 school year and Kyle Montgomery as a maintenance worker at the bus garage for the first semester of the 2012-13 school year.
