Band practice

West Limestone High School marching band will have practice from 6-8 p.m. today, July 15 and July 20 at the school. Practice includes rookies, pit and section leaders. Color guard is not included. Call Ken Engle at 256-233-6687.

Used book sale

The friends of Athens-Limestone Public Library will hold a used book sale from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. today at the library.

Support group dinner

TOUCH cancer support group will have a dinner at 6 tonight at Catfish Cabin 2 for members and any survivors who wish to join. Call Esther Jernigan at 256-232-6455.

THURSDAY

Backyard Barbecue camp

Limestone County 4-H is sponsoring the Backyard Barbecue Class from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday at the Extension Office for students ages 9-13. Students will learn about basic outdoor cooking skills and food safety, how to successfully barbecue chicken, and how to cook a variety of foods outdoors. Cost of $15 includes lunch. DHR blood drive

Athens Community Blood Drive for state, city and county employees, sponsored by the Department of Human Resources, will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday in the DHR conference room. Donors will get RTJ Golf Trail green fees or a T-shirt. Call Jennifer White at 256-216-6380.

Respite night

Germantown reunion will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at The Community Club House on Thatch Road. Lunch will be at 11:30 a.m.

Evans Cemetery decoration

Evans Cemetery decoration day will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at which time goat and beef stews will be available for purchase at $5 per quart. Call Kenneth Rose at 256-729-6883.

Barker Cemetery decoration

Decoration day for Barker Cemetery will be from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. If you are unable to attend donations can be made to: Phillip Barker, 27450 Sweet Springs Road, Ardmore, AL 35739. Checks should be made to Barker Cemetery.

Robinson reunion

Family and friends of Hezekiah Robinson will hold a reunion Saturday at the Elkmont Depot. Lunch begins around noon. Bring a covered dish. Call 256-732-4548.

Meadows reunion

A Meadows family reunion will be from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Isom’s Chapel Church at 16230 Mooresville Road. Children’s games begin at 11 a.m. Bring a dish for a lunch at noon. Silent auction begins at 11 a.m., and bidding closes at 1:30 p.m. Plans for next year will be discussed at 2 p.m. and cleanup begins at 3 p.m.

Honor Flight play tickets

Honor Flight Tennessee Valley has a limited number of free tickets reserved for World War II veterans and their accompanying family members to Neil Simon’s play, “Biloxi Blues.” It will be presented by Theater Huntsville at the Von Braun Civic Center at 2 p.m. Sunday.
