Announcements of church events are published each Friday and Sunday in The News Courier. Church briefs must be submitted in writing, either on a form available at The News Courier office at 410 W. Green St., Athens, or sending e-mail to kelly@athensnews-courier.com or a fax to (256) 233-7753.
o Witness weekend. Isom’s Chapel will host a Lay Witness Weekend tonight through Sunday, featuring a team from Nashville. General session will be at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights at 16230 Mooresville Road, near the intersection of Pepper and Mooresville Roads. o Seminar. Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church will host the seminar Changing to Glorify God Saturday. The day begins with a breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and concludes with a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. at 14202 Lucas Ferry Road in Athens.
o The Terrys to perform. The Terrys will sing at Herds Chapel Church at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 18 at the church located on the corner of Ready Section and Wall Triana roads.
o Before the Rocks Cry Out. Lindsay Lane Baptist Church invites the public to “Before The Rocks Cry Out,” a night of worship in song, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 19.
o Pancake breakfast. Southwind Christian Center will host a free pancake breakfast from 7-9 a.m. Sunday April 19, at 518 Hatfield Lake Road in Athens. For information, call (256) 232-9146.
o Worship night. Lindsay Lane Baptist Church will host “Before The Rocks Cry Out,” a night of worship in song, at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at 1300 Lindsay Lane in Athens.
o Special service. The Rev. Jerry Gardener will bring the message and the Oak Grove Male Chorus will render a song service beginning at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 19, at Alabama Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church located on U.S.127 North in Athens.
o Revival. St. Mark Primitive Baptist Church will hold a revival each night beginning at 7 p.m. on April 21, 22, and 23 at the church located at 740 Sanderfer Road in Athens. Elder Perry Clark of St. Rebecca Primitive Baptist Church of Huntsville will be the guest speaker.
o Benefit singing. A benefit will be held for the Donny and Tonia Smith family Saturday, April 25 at Elkmont Church of God of Prophecy. A yard and bake sale will be from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. An outdoor singing and food will be held from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Singers will include Kathy Terry, Bryan and Rex, Eddy Haggermaker, Sonlight Heirs and Stephanie Engle. For sale will be Boston Butts for $20; Chickens for $6; Ribs for $15 and Baby Back Ribs two for $25. Call 778-7661 or 426-4306 to order meat or for more information.
o Relay for Life yard sale. The Relay for Life Team of Little Ezekial Church will hold a community yard sale starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at Round Island Missions Center on Lucas Ferry Road.
o Frazier Men of Faith. Pastor J.C. Davis Jr. and the men of Frazier Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will host a Men of Faith Day beginning with a fellowship breakfast at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at the church with guest speaker Pastor Dennis Ivey and the Tanner Pentecostal Family. A fellowship program will b held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 26 at the church with Pastor James Jamar and the St. John Missionary Baptist Church family. The St. John male chorus will provide song.
o SONA meeting. Singles Of North Alabama will meet at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at Friendship United Methodist Church, at 16479 Lucas Ferry Road. All single adults are invited. Fellowship starts at 6 p.m. with a covered dish meal at 6:30 p.m. A short program will be present followed by fellowship with singles from other churches. Bring a dish, dessert or drinks to share. o Benefit singing. There will be a benefit singing for Ricky Haggermaker at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at The Word of God Ministry, 22443 New Garden Road, Elkmont. The singers will be Sought Out and the Carter Family. Call 732-3652 or 874-3021.
o Hundred-Man March. Frazier CME Church is inviting all men and boys in the community to participate in the 100-Man March at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 26. Pastor James Jamar, pastor of St. John M.B. Church, will be guest speaker with an open statement by Athens Mayor Dan Williams. There will be a kick-off breakfast at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at Tanner Pentecostal Church.
o Gold City Quartet. The Gold City Quartet will appear in concert at 7 p.m. Friday, May 1, at Lindsay Lane Baptist Church, 1300 Lindsay Lane. A Love Offering will be received.
o Spring revival. The New Life Baptist Church will hold is Spring Revival at 7 p.m. each night May 4 through 7, at the church located at 2314 South Hine Street in Athens. Guest revivalist will be Pastor Marcus Davidson of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Courtland.
