MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Another group of Alabama Army National Guard personnel are preparing to deploy to Afghanistan.

According to Army Sgt. Katrina Timmons, a Guard spokeswoman, a 16 member team will deploy in June and serve about 9 months overseas.

Timmons said the unit will train Afghan soldiers and police officers.

Another team of Alabama-based soldiers are in Afghanistan performing a similar mission. Timmons said the unit could return to the state sometime in the next two months.
