Della Mae Baker
The funeral for Della Mae Baker will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Homer Lamar Moses Memorial Chapel of Peoples Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernestine Mason officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Athens.
Bertha Mary Cain
The funeral for Bertha Mary Cain will be at 1 p.m. today at Pleasant Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Pastor John Jude officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. The body will be in the church one hour before the service. Royal Funeral Home is directing.
Mrs. Cain died Sunday, April 29, 2007.
Elenor Josephine Lentz
The funeral for Elenor Josephine Lentz, 92, of Athens will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at McConnell Memorial Chapel with Brother Leamuel Green and Brother Bill Lindsey officiating. Burial will be in Sandlin Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Mrs. Lentz died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
Mrs. Lentz was born June 4, 1914, in Limestone County to Robert Henry Pugh and Idella Cleveland Pugh. She was a member of Cairo United Methodist Church and attended the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church on 7 Mile Post Road.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Webster Lentz; one daughter, Catherine Smith; one grandson, Roger Ireland; three brothers; and two sisters.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Cora Pugh and Mattie Pugh, both of Athens; and several niece and nephews.
Ernest Malone
The funeral for Ernest Malone will be at noon Thursday at New Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Tanner with Larry Lockett Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Polly Malone Cemetery in Tanner. Peoples Funeral Home is directing.
Fannie Redus
The funeral for Fannie Redus will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Homer Lamar Moses Memorial Chapel of Peoples Funeral Home. Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery on U.S. 31 South in Athens.
Arthur Swinney
The funeral for Arthur Swinney will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church with Marvin Winston officiating. Burial will be in Thatch-Mann Cemetery. Peoples Funeral Home is directing.
John Ed Tatum Sr.
The funeral for John Ed Tatum Sr., 76, of Athens will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at McConnell Funeral Home with Mike Green officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Tatum died Monday, April 30, 2007, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
Mr. Tatum was born July 30, 1930, in Elkton, Tenn., to William Thomas Tatum and Emma Lee Atkinson Tatum. He proudly served in the Army from 1949 until 1956 and received his honorable discharge. Mr. Tatum was retired from the TVA after 35 years of service and had made many friends during this time. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
He was survived by his wife, Margaret Kelley Tatum of Athens; two daughters, Juanita Faye Villasenor and Norma Martinez, both of Athens; two sons, John Ed “Bug” Tatum Jr. and William Franklin Tatum, both of Athens; one sister, Ozell Dunnavant of Shelbyville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be John Tatum III, Donnie Kyle, Donald Peden, Tory Worthey, Efrain Martinez, William Kenneth, Nicklous Tatum and Keith Brown.
