Lawrence Lucian Baker

The funeral for Lawrence Lucian Baker, 81, of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at 7 Mile Post Road Church of Christ with Dwight Ridinger and Joey Curtis officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Point Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at McConnell Funeral Home.

Mr. Baker died Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, at his residence.

He was born Oct. 11, 1925, in Limestone County to Dudley Baker Sr. and Ola Lee Knowles Baker. He was a member of 7 Mile Post Road Church of Christ and Pleasant Point Senior Center. He was an Army veteran who served in the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Era Ethel “Tiny” Baker; brothers and sisters, Marvin Baker, Clinton Baker, Clara Baker Wiley, Elizabeth Baker Smith, Dudley Baker, William Andrew Baker, Virginia Baker Sherrill and Effie Mae Baker.

Mr. Baker is survived by three sons, Rocky Baker, Neal Baker and wife Cindy, Stephon Baker and wife Patti, all of Athens; two daughters, Pam Stanford and husband Donny and Gena Swaim, both of Athens; 11 grandchildren, Kim Wales and husband Duane, Mandy Hemmen and husband Chris, Andy Stanford, Micah Baker, Nikolas Baker and wife Lacey, Ryan Baker and wife Brooke, Brent Baker, Corbin Swaim, Carson Swaim, Hunter Baker and Kaitlyn Baker; two great-grandchildren, Bryant Wales and Anna Grace Wales; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Micah Baker, Ryan Baker, Nikolas Baker, Brent Baker, Andy Stanford and Hunter Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be Corbin Swaim, Carson Swaim and Bryant Wales.
