The News-Courier will publish, free of charge, death notices including the name, age and city of residence of the deceased, date and place of death, and time and place of funeral services and visitation.
Family members now may express themselves in a eulogy, list survivors and give detailed biographical information about the deceased in a paid obituary. The News-Courier will accept these paid items from the family, funeral directors, or other individuals. Paid obituaries may include a photo at no extra charge.
If a published obituary contains an error, The News-Courier will reprint a corrected obituary at no charge, provided the error was ours. The News-Courier does not issue refunds on obituary announcements.

Marvin McArthur James
The funeral for Marvin McArthur ‘Mack’ James, 63, of Belle Mina, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Spry Funeral Home with Ricky Lowery officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be tonight from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. James died Friday, Feb. 27, 2006, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 11, 1942, in Limestone County. He was a retired farmer and a volunteer fireman at South Limestone Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church of Athens.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank James; two brothers, Paul James and Charles James; and one sister, Mary Ann James.
He is survived by his wife, Sherley Haygood of Belle Mina; his mother, Doris James of Bella Mina; three sons, Kevin James of Harvest, Brent James and Kenny James both of Belle Mina; one daughter, Michelle James of Decatur; two sisters, Glenda Keenum and Brenda Robinson, both of Belle Mina; two brothers, Ricky James of Madison, and Randall James of Belle Mina; two grandsons, Devin Hadden and Benjamin James; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be his nephews.
Velma Loree Ritterbush
The graveside service for Velma Loree Ritterbush, 71, of Athens, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Limestone Memorial Gardens. Spry Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be tonight from 6-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ritterbush died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, at Decatur General Hospital.
She was a retired machine operator, a member of the Woodmen of the World and of the Baptist Faith.
She is survived by one son, Walter Ritterbush of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Susan Anthony of Lynchburg, Tenn., and Patsy Blakely of Athens; one brother, Walter Orbin Kaiser of Florissant, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Barbara Anette Rolin
The funeral for Barbara Anette Rolin, 46, of Ardmore, Tenn., will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home in Ardmore, Ala., with the Rev. Jerry Smith. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rolin died Friday, February 24, 2006, at Athens-Limestone Hospital.
