Elderly man shoots wife

ATTALLA, Ala. (AP) — Police in Attalla are trying to determine what prompted an elderly man to fatally shoot his bedridden wife and then take his own life.

Attalla Police Chief Joe Hereford said 65-year-old Deanna Hollingsworth was killed in her home Tuesday just after 3 p.m. Etowah County Coroner Michael Gladden said officers also found the body of her husband, 72-year-old Arlin Hollingsworth.
