Alex Kuntz, a cross country and track runner for Elkmont High School, signed his letter of intent to run in college on Monday, March 13.

He has signed with Lincoln Memorial University which is located in northeastern Tennessee.

New to coaching track this year, coach Matt Black said he just met Kuntz back in December when they began working on indoor track.

“From my years experience, most successful distance runners are self-driven. Distance running is one of those things where you can be as good as you want to be if you are willing to put in the work,” Coach Black said. “Once I got to know Alex and his work ethic I knew he was special.”

He said as Kuntz’s coach he wants to help him this year to become an even better athlete before he moves on to his next phase at LMU.

“Alex has always been on target,” Black said. “As his coach, I am just sighting him in, increasing his accuracy if you will, so that he can get the most out of his senior year. I am expecting great things from Alex this season and in the future.”
