An Athens woman was arrested Friday after allegedly assaulting another woman for talking to her husband, an official said.

Aleia Jean Johnson, 35, of 608 E. McClean St., is facing a charge of second-degree assault, records show.

Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson said Johnson was arrested Friday morning on a warrant after officers responded to a call of an altercation on Westmoreland Avenue Thursday night.

When officers arrived they found a 31-year-old female bleeding from her face and arms. The victim told officers she was attacked and cut by Johnson because she had been talking with Johnson’s husband, the chief said.

The victim went to the emergency room by private vehicle and was treated, he said.

The warrant was issued June 9 and Johnson was booked at the police department and transferred to Limestone County Jail. She remained there Friday afternoon in lieu of a $2,500 bond and a $500 cash bond on a separate charge of failure to make a child attend school, a jail official said.
