Three more people have been arrested in connection to a string of burglaries in recently vacated homes, the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office announced Tuesday.
Amanda Sullivan, 36, of Elkmont, Donald Eugene Greenhaw, 53, of Elkmont, and Tommy Dale Brown, 42, of Anderson, are each charged with one count of third-degree burglary, records show. Greenhaw faces additional charges of first-degree theft, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and possession of drug paraphernalia, records show.
Authorities have not said how the three were connected to the three burglaries, which occurred at two residences that had been recently vacated by elderly women.
Public Information Officer Stephen Young said the investigation is ongoing, however, and additional arrests are expected.
Previously, 52-year-old Donald Joe Patrick of Elkmont and 40-year-old Thomas Stephen Williams Jr. of Athens were arrested on burglary and theft charges related to the case. Patrick is charged with third-degree burglary and first-degree theft. Williams is charged with first-degree theft and four counts of third-degree burglary.
Young said investigators are still seeking Kenneth Wayne Wilburn in connection with the case. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office at 256-232-0111.
The burglaries
Deputies took a report July 2 concerning a home that had been vacated by a widow who left belongings behind. More than $35,000 in property was taken during the burglary.
Records show furniture suites, child play sets, light fixtures, ceiling fans, wood flooring, car parts among the stolen items. Young said investigators were able to recover many of the items at antique shops, secondhand dealers and storage buildings.
A second home was burglarized twice, Young said. The victim had recently moved to an assisted living facility, and her daughter reported the first burglary after finding open and misplaced jewelry boxes with missing items.
The second burglary was reported by witnesses who observed the burglary as it was happening. Young said witnesses reported seeing a white man and woman fleeing the scene before investigators arrived. They identified the male as Wilburn.
Young encouraged anyone who may have purchased stolen property from the listed suspects to contact the sheriff’s office.
