Library, brewery team up for ‘Pints and Poets’

Madison Public Library and Rocket Republic Brewing Co. will host an event celebrating National Poetry Month.

Dubbed Pints and Poets, the event is set for 6 p.m. Thursday at Rocket Republic at 289 Production Ave., in Madison.

Inaugurated by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, National Poetry Month has grown into the largest literary celebration in the world. Pints and Poets will feature local beers, live poetry readings, an open mic, food from 306 BBQ food truck and crafts.

Poets Lana Austin, Anna Lowe Weber, Jessica Temple, Melissa Thornton and Virginia Gilbert will read their original poetry.

“We’re excited to have something a bit more than your average ‘coffee house’-style poetry event,” said Madison Public Library Adult Programs Coordinator Anne Wood. “Rocket Republic has been a wonderful partner for many other unique events benefitting the library, and we’re happy to team up with them again.”

No tickets or reservations are necessary. For more information, contact Wood at awood@hmcpl.org.
