New Year celebration. Hindu Cultural Center of North Alabama will host a New Year’s celebration starting 11 p.m. Dec. 31 with Bhajan and a special arati at midnight to welcome the new year. The temple at 14800 Vishnu Way in Harvest will be open 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. Jan. 1 with Archana each hour. Noted events during the New Year’s Day celebration include Sri Mahalakshmi Havan at 10:30 a.m., Sri Jagannath Puja at 11:30 a.m., Arati and Prasad at 1 p.m., Archana at 2:30 p.m. and Ganapati Abhisekam Alankara, Bhajan, Archana, Arati and Prasad from 6–8 p.m. Sponsorship is $151; Archana is $21.
