Civil War buff to speak at the Limestone County Historical Society meeting
Members of the Limestone County Historical Society invite the public to the First Presbyterian Church, Rodgers Center, to see “Parson” Tim Morrison present “The Three Stories of Anthony Hill” on Tuesday.
Morrison, a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans of Tennessee, will share facts and stories he learned about the Civil War battle at the members’ quarterly meeting.
Historical Society vice president Jackie Leonard said some of the members saw Morrison speak last year at the Cunningham Cemetery marker dedication by the Joe Wheeler chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and wanted to hear him again.
“They’re always discovering new things so not many people know the details or facts from the Battles at Anthony Hill,” he said.
Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. and Morrison will speak at 7.
For more than 20 years, Morrison has been a part of grave marking dedication services and monument events to remember Confederate soldiers.
He is responsible for marking 43 Confederate graves in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Giles County, Tennessee, a four-and-a-half year project.
He also volunteers for the Sons of Confederate Veterans owned and operated Nathan Bedford Forrest boyhood home in Chapel Hill, Tennessee, by developing and planning fundraisers.
His degree from the University of North Alabama is in English and History.
In 1988, Morrison’s family moved to Fayetteville, Tennessee, where his wife Theresa Tomaszewski established a medical practice in obstetrics and pediatrics.
Public is invited, refreshments are at 6:30 p.m.
