McCALLA, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say a single mother is coping with the theft of Christmas presents she bought for her 9-year-old son.

Sheriff’s deputies say someone kicked in their front door of their home in the Letson Farms Subdivision in McCalla and made off with the gifts.

Chief Deputy Randy Christian tells WBRC-TV (http://bit.ly/vMMwrX) the mother “has nothing now.” He said the thief made off with a significant amount of gifts.

Christian said deputies have no leads but are hoping that detectives get some tips from the public.

McCalla is about 20 miles southwest of Birmingham.
