UPDATE: Woodbridge Group to host job fair Thursday

Editor’s note: Updated to reflect the current address of the Greater Limestone County Chamber of Commerce. The chamber is sharing space with the Athens-Limestone Home Builders Association as work continues on a new chamber building downtown.

Those seeking the chance to produce parts for Toyota and Nissan could get their first crack at the job from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at the Greater Limestone County Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber’s offices at are 106 Cloverleaf Drive, Athens.

The Woodbridge Group, located in SouthPoint Industrial Park, will host a job fair at the chamber’s offices. Their current hiring goal is 80 employees.

“We’re looking to hire 40 by June 1 and 40 more by July 1,” said Patrick Holland, human resources manager at The Woodbridge Group.

The company is looking primarily for production workers. Production currently focuses on molded foam — specifically, foam seats for the Nissan Altima, Nissan Rogue and Nissan Titan.

Holland said they will be picking up production of armrests for Toyota in August 2019. He hoped they will continue to make parts for the new Toyota-Mazda plant being built just a few miles away.

“Being we’re only 4 miles away, we’d like to have some access,” Holland said.

Most of the company’s 97 employees are in production now. Holland said those who hire in from the job fair can look forward to great benefits from getting involved with an operation on the ground level.

“We are built and designed to grow, and we will grow,” Holland said. “… There are internal opportunities here that will arise based on their performance. One of the big things as far as tangible benefits (is) from Day One, they get medical, dental, vision (and) matching 401K. Most companies have a waiting period, but here, you get those from Day One.”

Starting pay varies but ranges between $12.50 and $13.50 per hour, Holland said. Other benefits include paid holidays during the first year and two weeks vacation after the first year.

Holland advised anyone wishing to apply to bring their resume and whatever questions they may have about the position to Thursday’s job fair.

“It’s amazing how good of an organization it is,” Holland said.
