Ardmore has no answer for Brooks

Ardmore had its hands full in its Class 5A, Region 8 opener against Brooks, and the Tigers had no answer for Brooks running back Noah Turbyfill.

Turbyfill rushed for 205 yards and four touchdowns for the Lions in a 48-0 victory.

While Brooks had 369 yards rushing, Ardmore was held to just 35. The Lions finished the game with 534 total yards.

Turbyfill started the scoring just over a minute into the game when he broke loose for a 20-yard touchdown run. He added his second score a few minute later on a 5-yard scamper.

Stephen Darwin intercepted a pass and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown early in the second quarter before Christopher Spurgeon tossed a 30-yard touchdown pass to Michael Bange. Turbyfill gave Brook a 34-0 halftime lead with a 25-yard run with 49 seconds remaining in the half.

Turbyfill scored his fourth touchdown early in the third quarter on a 69-yard run before Brooks got one final touchdown on a 1-yard run by Lazarius Decatur midway through the fourth.

Noah Barnes completed 14-of-25 passes for Ardmore for 167 yards, but was also intercepted four times. Mack Hughes was the Tigers’ leading receiver with 76 yards on five catches.

Ardmore (1-1, 0-1 5A, Region 8) will travel to face East Limestone next Friday night.
