Redus Black
The funeral for Redus Black, 77, of Athens will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Pat Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Black died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, at Athens Convalescent Center.
He was born April 4, 1930, in Limestone County to Walte Lester Black and Janie Black. He retired from Golden Flake Potato Chips after 39 years and worked until his death at Whitt’s Barbeque in Athens. He served with the Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by one son, Randy Black and wife Angela of Athens; two sisters, Clara Holden, and Hazel Teeples and husband Calvin, all of Athens; one brother, Benton Black and wife Louise of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Black; his parents, Walte Lester and Mary Black; a sister, Inza-Mae Christopher; and brothers, Fletcher Black, Raymond Black and Sam Black.
Pallbearers will be Larry Teeples, Joey Black, Dennis Black, David Holden, Wayne Clem and Phil Daws.
Honorary pallbearers will be David Harvey and Kirk Harvey.
