An Athens man is facing multiple criminal charges for allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home, slapping her in the face, grabbing her around the neck and then leaving with their 10-month-old baby, records show.
Hunter Eugene Rose, 18, of 16957 Huntsville Browns Ferry Road, was arrested Monday on charges of domestic violence strangulation/suffocation, third-degree burglary and unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle, records show.
He remained in the Limestone County Jail Tuesday with bail set at $10,000.
The accusation
According to a report filed in Limestone County District Court, Limestone County Sheriff’s Deputy Jonathan Hardiman was dispatched about 10 a.m. Aug. 7 to a home regarding a child-custody issue. Hardiman said he was met in the driveway by the female complainant, who told him her child’s father, Rose, had entered her unlocked car, obtained the garage door opener and used it to enter her unlocked home through the garage. Once inside, he slapped her in the face and grabbed her around the neck before taking their 10-month-old child and leaving.
In his report, Hardiman said redness was visible on the left side of the complainant’s face and marks were visible around her neck.
Deputy Chris Frasier arrested Rose at his home on Huntsville Browns Ferry Road.
Deputy Dale Townsend stayed with the baby until someone arrived to take the infant.
