On Wednesday, May 15, around 5:30 p.m., Athens police received a call that a suspect had threatened the occupant of a home with a gun, discharging the weapon, and fled the area.
Officers responded and located the suspect, who remained armed. Officers tried to convince the suspect multiple times to give up the gun. The suspect refused and fled on foot from the officers.
The suspect ran into a residential neighborhood on Songbird Drive where officers again tried to convince him to give up the gun. The suspect fired his weapon and fled between two homes.
Officers ordered the suspect to drop the gun. An officer used a Taser on the suspect. Despite being hit with a taser, the suspect pointed the gun at officers.
