Police: 2 new victims identified in Alabama abuse case

ALABASTER, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say they have filed more charges against a retired Shelby County schoolteacher who is accused of sexually abusing female students throughout his career.

Alabaster police said Wednesday they have filed two more sexual abuse charges against 49-year-old Danny Acker, who was a fourth-grade teacher from 1985 until 2009.

Police say one of the alleged victims told investigators Acker molested her in a classroom while he was her teacher. Another alleged victim says Acker abused her on a school bus when she was 9.

Four people ranging in age from school-age to adults have now come forward saying the teacher abused them during his career.

An attorney for Acker hasn’t responded to messages seeking comment, and Acker hasn’t filed court documents indicating how he will answer the charges.
