Ozone alert issued for Jefferson, Shelby counties
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — The Birmingham Regional Planning Commission has issued an Orange Air Quality Alert for Tuesday in Jefferson and Shelby counties.
The alert is to warn about elevated levels of ozone in the area that will affect people with breathing problems. To cope with conditions, citizens in the two counties are urged to reduce driving by car pooling or taking the bus.
Other suggestions include no outdoor burning and avoid using lawn mowers.
