A tornado warning is in effect until 9 a.m. for south central Limestone County, according to the national weather service.

A tornado watch was originally in effect for all of Limestone County until 10 p.m. The watch was cancelled for Limestone county at 10:34 a.m. 

A tornado watch is still in affect for surrounding counties, Madison and Morgan, until 1 p.m.

Athens Utilities reports storm-related damage to the system impacting customers serviced by French’s Mill & Belle Mina substations; experiencing issues at other substations as well. Outages reported in the East Limestone area south of U.S. 72 to County Line Road. Crews will work as quickly as is safely possible to restore power.

Athens Utilities reports approximately 4,300 customers impacted by storm-related outages in the SE Limestone area; crews working as quickly as is safely possible to restore power.

The Athens Activity Center has made the decision to close for today. This is the center on Pryor Street that provides activities for seniors.

Athens Utilities reports power restored to all but 300 customers in the SE Limestone area: mainly Hwy 20 area and from U.S. 31 east to Mooresville Road; that is down from 4,300 customers initially impacted by storm-related outages.
