A 22-year-old Athens man has been charged with second-degree rape for allegedly having consensual sex with a 14-year-old girl during the month of July, an official said Tuesday.

Christopher Lee Turner of 20138 Elkton Road was arrested Monday on the charge and released from the Limestone County Jail after posting a $15,000 bail, records show.

“They had consensual sex between July 4 and 19, and the mother of the victim found out through a family friend,” said Limestone County Sheriff’s Lt. Brad Curnutt.

Investigator Eric King interviewed Turner, at which time he admitted having sex with the girl, Curnutt said.
