The News Courier will publish, free of charge, death notices including the name, age and city of residence of the deceased, date and place of death, and time and place of funeral services and visitation.

Family members now may express themselves in a eulogy, list survivors and give detailed biographical information about the deceased in a paid obituary. The News Courier will accept these paid items from the family, funeral directors, or other individuals. Paid obituaries may include a photo at no extra charge.

If a published obituary contains an error, The News Courier will reprint a corrected obituary at no charge, provided the error was ours. The News Courier does not issue refunds on obituary announcements.

Joyce Ann Brownlow

Joyce Ann Brownlow, 53, of Carrollton, Texas, died Monday, March 20, 2006, in Dallas, Texas. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.



Jonathan Michael Delong

The funeral for Jonathan Michael Delong, 17, of Fayetteville, Tenn., was Monday at Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home. Burial was in Gatlin Cemetery.

Mr. Delong died Friday, March 17, 2006, at Toney.



Euna M. Dempsey

The funeral for Euna M. Dempsey, 88, of Huntsville, will be 2 p.m. today at Valhalla Funeral Home in Huntsville with Faye Harwell and Hubert Smith officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Dempsey died Sunday, March 19, 2006.



Claudie L. Holt

The funeral for Claudie L. Holt, 86, of Birmingham, was Monday at Ridout’s Funeral Home-Gardendale Chapel with Tom McClure and a grandson, Jacob Rawlinson, officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Holt died Friday, March 17, 2006.

Mr. Holt was a member of Palisades Church of Christ. He was known for his love of music and he won numerous awards for his guitar playing. In 1976 he was invited to Washington, D.C., to join with 100 musicians to celebrate the Bicentennial to help preserve old-time music. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and he retired from Burlngton Northern Railroad with 30 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Emogene Holt.

He is survived by two daughters, Claudette Hanby and Joyce Rawlinson; two brothers, Milton Holt and Virgil Holt; two sisters, Nettie Jones and Lillie Mae Hastings; and four grandchildren, Valerie Cleveland, Jacob Rawlinson, David Christopher Hanby and Elizabeth Nicole Rawlinson.



Betty Criscillies Lay

Betty Criscillies Lay, 68, of Athens, died Monday at home. Arrangements will be announced by McConnell Funeral Home.



William Christopher Wise

The funeral for William Christopher Wise, 36, of Athens, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at McConnell Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Wise died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at home.
