DINNER DATE: Mooresville’s annual progressive dinner set for Dec. 8

Mooresville’s population of 57 residents is inviting the public to step back in time next month as part of the annual Holiday Home Tour and Progressive Dinner.

The event is set for 2-7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, in historic downtown Mooresville. Tickets are $75 per person. Proceeds support the town’s preservation efforts.

Dinner seatings will be at 3:30 and 4:45 p.m. Attendees are asked to note their preferred seating time when purchasing a ticket. The meal is being catered by Endless Catering of Ardmore.

“Historic Mooresville puts on its holiday finery every December to celebrate the season,” said a press release about the event. “Bright fresh greenery and red bows decorate our street signs, Della Robbia wreaths with colorful fresh fruit and natural materials hang on the doors of our historic public buildings, and our homes are decorated in the tradition of Christmas past.”

Check-in begins at 2 p.m. at the 1821 Stagecoach Tavern, where attendees will receive a map and begin their walk through the village. Decorated homes and shops will be open from 2-6 p.m.

Shops to be open include:

• 1818 Farms (handmade bath products and gifts);

• Hen House Art (artwork);

• JaVa.Mooresville (coffee and art);

• Lyla’s Little House (homemade candy, ice cream and cheese straws);

• Mooresville Mercantile (traditional gifts and home furnishings); and

• Southern Carnage (bike repair and sales).

In order to visit all the homes and shops before they close and to allow time for dinner reservations, attendees are encouraged to check in as soon after 2 p.m. as possible. The leisurely walk around town is less than 1 mile.

The schedule is as follows:

• 2-4: Live music by Maple Hill Band at the 1839 brick church. The 1840 post office will also be open during this time;

• 2:30-4:30 p.m.: The Huntsville Community Chorus will perform on Laurence and Natasha McCrary’s front porch;

• 3-5 p.m.: Salad in the brick church;

• 4:15-5:15 p.m.: Prevailing winds
