Doris Brown

Doris Lee Manley Brown, 73, of Hazel Green, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006. She was born in Danville, Va. Mrs. Brown resided in Huntsville for most of her life and in Hazel Green since 1972. She retired from P.R. Mallory and worked at the Limestone County Council on Aging for several years. She also worked at the Medical Center Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noland Brown and one brother, J.C. Newman.

Survivors include her son, Jim Manley and wife Sue of Athens; daughters, Mary Betterton and husband Joe of Toney, Susi Turri and husband Robert of Athens, Cindy Hicks and husband Richard of Hazel Green; sister, Imogene Ruppel of Charlottesville, Va.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Laughlin Service Chapel. Burial will follow at Valhalla Cemetery.



Rodney Lamar Browning

The funeral for Rodney Lamar Browning, 58, of Athens, was at 11 a.m. Monday at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Jack Bailey and Tim Keenum officiating. Burial was in Sardis Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Browning died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at Huntsville Hospital.

He was a member of Sardis Springs Baptist Church.

He is survived by wife Jean Browning of Athens; three sons, Michael Browning, Timothy Browning, Ryan Browning, all of Athens; one sister, Shirley Dilworth of Athens; two brothers, Ray Browning of Athens, Donnie Browning of Fayetteville, Tenn.; one grandson, Garrett Browning of Athens; four granddaughters, Breanna Browning, Cora Beth Browning, Emma Browning and Makayla Browning, all of Athens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benton and Annie Browning.

Pallbearers will be Larry Stripling, Clay Jackson, Larry Clem, Ronny Taylor, Jimmy Manry and Jerry Newby.



William Tennis Milam

A graveside service for William Tennis “Billy” Milam, 69, of Ardmore, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Morris Chapel Cemetery in Moulton with Brian Hawkins officiating. Ardmore Memorial Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mr. Milam died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at his home.



Charles Erwin Pogue

The funeral for Charles Erwin Pogue, 88, of Lynchburg, Tenn., will be at noon today at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Lynchburg with the Rev. Allen Black officiating. There will be a graveside service with full military honors will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Limestone Memorial Gardens in Athens.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Pogue died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at Harton Regional Medical Center.

He is retired from the United States Air Force.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Pogue of Lynchburg, Tenn.; one grandson, Robert M. “Bobby” Vaughn Jr. of Athens; one granddaughter, Laura Dunn of Athens; five great-granddaughters; one sister, Jane Herring of Lake of Ozark Mountain, MO.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Lou Vaughn.



Lorene Ricketts

The funeral for Lorene Ricketts, 97, of Athens, will be at 2 p.m. today at McConnell Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Inman and Tim Keenum officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Ricketts died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, at her home.

She was born Feb. 28, 1909 in Limestone County to Benjamin Henry Smith and Margaret Johnson Smith. She was a life-long member of Fairview Baptist Church and the ladies senior adult Sunday school class.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Bart Ricketts, two sons, Herman Jackson Ricketts, Alton Edward Ricketts and one grandson, Charles Bart Dollar.

She is survived by one son, James Ricketts and wife Nancy of Pulaski, Tenn.; three daughters, Mary Frances Ricketts of Athens, Edith Hambrick and husband Sam of Scottsboro, Virginia Dollar and husband Charles of Athens; seven grandchildren, Dennis Ricketts, Ken Ricketts, Lisa Barfoot, Blake Dollar, Jan Hodgson, Joy Burguss; nine great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Stan Menefee, Stanley Menefee, David Smith, Kenneth Craft, Glenn Craft and Kent Murphy.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pettus Menefee, Robert Ruff, George Phillips, Jim Martindale, Morris Bates, Randal Hare, Othal Washington, Lawrence Washington and William Washington.

In lieu of flowers make memorials to Wiregrass Hospice or your favorite charity.



Steven Floyd Sanchez

Steven Floyd Sanchez, 55, of Athens, died Saturday evening, Nov. 4, 2006, at his residence. He was employed at Lowes in Athens.

Mr. Sanchez is survived by his wife Judy of Athens; mother, Margie of Loretto, Tenn.; son, Aaron and wife Ginger of Toney; two daughters, Marsha Sanchez and Amanda Biggs and husband Wayne, all of Athens; three brothers, Edward and wife Theresa of Franklin, Tenn., Nicholas and wife Donna of Kinston, N.C. and Roy of Athens; one sister, Janeen Thompson and husband Gilbert of Wittenburg, Wis.; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11a.m. today at Valhalla Funeral Home in Huntsville with George Lee and Phillip Farris officiating. The interment will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
