‘American Pickers’ to film in Alabama; collections sought

If you have a barn, garage or house full of “rusty gold,” your trash could be treasure for Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz of the History Channel’s “American Pickers.”

The show’s production team, Cineflix, has announced the show would be filming in Alabama this winter and the show is looking for collections for Wolfe and Fritz to peruse. Wolfe owns and operates Antique Archaeology stores in LeClaire, Iowa, and Nashville, Tennessee.

“ … We’re looking for leads throughout the region, specifically interesting people with interesting items and lots of them,” said a press release.

Collectors who would like to be considered are urged to email AmericanPickers@cineflix.com or call 1-855-OLD RUST (653-7878). Those who email should include the location of the collector and a description of the collection.

About the show

“American Pickers” follows Wolfe and Fritz as they search for valuable antiques. The pair has a particular affinity for motorcycles, bicycles, vintage signs, old toys and oil cans.

“As they hit the back roads from coast to coast, Mike and Frank are on a mission to recycle and rescue forgotten relics,” the release said. “Along the way, the Pickers want to meet characters with remarkable and exceptional items. The pair hopes to give historically significant objects a new lease on life, while learning a thing or two about America’s past along the way.”

Athens connection

Athens native Lauren Wray Grisham manages the Antique Archaeology store in Nashville. She graduated from MTSU with a degree in anthropology.

“Luckily for me, I fit in pretty easily with the crew,” Grisham told The News Courier in 2013. “I talk to some of the most awesome people. … Everyone has a story to share.”
