UPDATED: 3 bodies found in Athens home

Limestone County Coroner Mike West and Athens Police Captain Trevor Harris have confirmed three bodies were found dead in a home in the 17000 block of W. Market St. in Athens. They were members of the same family.

West said the family members were last talked to at 8:30 p.m. last night. A fourth family member discovered them this morning, he said. A 911 call was placed at 11:37 a.m.

Harris said a preliminary investigation suggests two of the deaths were homicides, while the third was a suicide. No suspects or persons of interest are being sought in the case, he said, though detectives are continuing to collect evidence and conduct interviews.

The victims have been transported to the forensics lab in Huntsville for further examination. Anyone with information relevant to the case is asked to contact Sgt. Brett Constable at 256-233-8700.

The News Courier will have more information as it becomes available.
