Moody police say man stabbed his grandparents

MOODY, Ala.(AP) — Moody police were searching for a man accused of stabbing his grandfather to death and seriously injuring his grandmother.

Chief Johnny Kile said 21-year-old Jordan Durden Tyler allegedly attacked 69-year-old John Calvin Durden and his wife, Eva, late Wednesday night.

John Durden, known to friends as Calvin, died on the way to the hospital. His wife underwent surgery Thursday morning and is expected to survive.

Kile said Eva Durden called 911 after the attack and identified her grandson as the attacker. Kile said the grandson and his grandparents had legal issues.

Tyler is believed to be driving his grandparents’ blue 2000 Ford Windstar minivan with the tag number 59A585Z. Police urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to call them at 205-640-3333.
